For Gripability extreme light weighted pneumatic grippers are used. These power tools can grab, despite of their light weight, with a force from only a few grams up to 2 and more kilos at the tip of the gripper. Several different products from 13g up to 100g self-weight and with different powers are available. The grippers can be equipped with various fingers specially designed for certain tasks. The grip fingers are made of biocompatible material and can therefore as well be used to handle food. A light weighted adaption guarantees a solid hold when the gripper is adapted to the hand or any other part of the body in such a way that the user is able to manipulate best. Individual solutions that vary from the standard can easily be realised.
Opening and closing as well as the selection of the force with which the gripper grabs are controlled by sensors that don't need any pressure to be activated. The nearness of the skin alone is sufficient to operate the system. Flexible solutions for individual positioning of the control panel are available. And furthermore an intelligent interface enables specific adjustments of the operation system to special needs. The attractive Gripability rucksack weights about 4 kg and can easily and quickly be attached to any wheelchair. It carries the components responsible for power and operation of the gripper.
An absolutely silent high end, 16 bar compressor is by default used as stationary filling station for the mobile Gripability air pressure unit. Refilling the system is yet possible with a so called racing compressor, like it is used to pump up tyres of racing bikes. This manual powered compressor can also do 16 bar.
